The time was the reign of the second shogun, Minamoto no Yoriie. Ten years have passed since Yoshitsune was forced to commit suicide in Hiraizumi, Oshu. However, groups calling themselves the ``Yoshitsune Party'' were still rampant in Tohoku, and the situation was far from pacified. The Kamakura shogunate, furious, dispatches Unkai, a sorcerer-wielding monk, to subjugate the area. Unkai visits the Fukushima Castle of Hidemoto Ando in Jusanminato, Tsugaru, who is suspected of harboring Yoshitsune's party, and orders him to present Yoshitsune's orphaned child. Unkai sets fire to a Chinese ship moored at the port as Hidemoto pushes his way through his ignorance. Seeing this, Hidemoto's daughter Yayoi-hime runs to the quay to alert Seiwakamaru of the emergency, but what appears is a sea of clouds. The one that set the ship on fire was a trap to lure Seiwakamaru out. In order to save the captured Princess Yayoi, Yoshitsune's forgotten keepsake, Hoshiwakamaru, finally appears.
